Enquiry:
Our product is a gasoline additive that we want to certify in Mexico, but the Mexican regulations ask us for laboratory analysis results of the ASTM 5598 and 5500 methods. I would like to know if you handle these methods.
As well as with the analyzes required in points H and I, which I detail below.
H. Copy of the results issued by a laboratory regarding the tests carried out on the Petgas Additive in accordance with the ASTM D5598 and ASTM D5500 methods in order to determine the amount of additive required in the gasoline, in accordance with the properties of the Petgas Additive .
To carry out the tests referred to in the previous paragraph, the laboratory must use gasoline produced or imported that meet the characteristics established in table 5.1 of NOM-016-CRE-2016, Specifications for the Quality of Petroleum Products.
In relation to the foregoing, the laboratory in charge of issuing the results of said tests must be accredited in terms of the Law on Metrology and Standardization or, in the case of a laboratory located abroad, it must comply with the following requirements:
(i) That it is accredited by an Accreditation Body that is a signatory to the Mutual Recognition Agreement for Testing Laboratories, the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, the Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, or the Inter-American Cooperation of Accreditation. (ii) That the accreditation referred to in the preceding paragraph is based on the international guideline ISO/IEC 17025:2005 “General requirements for the competence of Testing and calibration laboratories” or the one that replaces it, or on foreign standards that are consistent with the international standard in question. (iii) That the ASTM D5598 and ASTM D5500 test methods are within the scope of the accreditation referred to in section (ii) above.
Note: In case of using a foreign laboratory, it will be necessary to translate said results into Spanish with an expert translator.
I. Copy of the reports issued by the laboratory referred to in paragraph H above, evidencing that the Petgas Additive compounds and their addition to oil products do not represent a risk to the control systems of the consumption equipment or vehicles, nor is there any harmful effect on the health of the population and the environment. In the event that the Petgas Additive contains organometallic compounds, the Applicant Company must previously obtain a favorable technical opinion for its use from the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources.
One of our highly proficient and ISO certified laboratory would be taking over this testing.
