Enquiry:
We are setting up a programme to treat spent bleaching clay from generators. We have 4 samples that need full characterisation before we can qualify the material. Please send us a quotation for the test plan below.
1. Sample details
- Number of samples: 4 (IDs -01 to -04)
- Material: spent bleaching clay, an oil-bearing clay from oil refining/re-refining. Some samples may come from used-lubricant re-refining.
- Expected properties: residual oil 15–35 wt%, high ash content. The material may self-heat, so please tell us your packaging and handling requirements.
- Quantity per sample: [X kg]. Please confirm the minimum quantity you need for the full scope.
- Delivery: we will deliver to your lab, or please quote for collection from [location].
2. Test plan

Tier 2: Handling and safety (please quote per sample; we may order for 1–2 samples only)
| # | Parameter | Preferred method |
| 15 | Self-heating / pyrophoricity | UN Test N.4 / EN 15188 |
| 16 | Flash point of extracted oil | ASTM D93 |
| 17 | Particle size distribution | Sieve / laser diffraction |
| 18 | Bulk density | ASTM D7481 or equivalent |
Tier 3: Waste classification (optional, please quote separately)
| # | Parameter | Preferred method |
| 19 | Leachability (metals) | TCLP – US EPA 1311, or the method required by NCEC |
| 20 | Dust explosivity (Kst, Pmax, MIE) | ASTM E1226 / EN 14034 / ASTM E2019 |
3. Reporting requirements
- Report results on both an as-received and a dry basis, with the units and the limit of quantification for each parameter.
- If you cannot run one of our preferred methods, please propose an equivalent, or subcontract it and say which lab will do the work.
- Please state which of the methods are covered by your ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
- We need a formal certificate of analysis for each sample, plus the results in an Excel file.
4. In your quotation, please include
- Price per parameter and per sample, with a separate total for each tier, in SAR excluding VAT.
- Turnaround time for standard and expedited service.
- Sample quantity, container and preservation requirements.
- Any discount for repeat testing. We expect regular testing of each consignment for calorific value, moisture, ash, Cl and S once supply starts.
- Validity of the quotation and your payment terms.
One of our highly proficient and ISO certified laboratory would be taking over this job.
